Give it time. You will. It's never been "democratic". If you look at the history of things like the Lisbon or Nice treaties they didn't give a shit about the democratic process. It wasn't trivial things they were pushing through either. One of the things they wanted all EU members to agree was when a conflict with EU vs national law arised that EU law would supercede it. The only place that got to even vote on such far reaching things was my country. And do you know what they did when they didn't get the result they wanted? Just told us to vote again.
Then of course we go look up and see what the Greeks have to actually say about what democracy actually is, you find many contradictions with the Jewish version.
The tl;dr is: when they say "our democracy" they're not talking about you.
