Steam newfags don't know simple 4chan facts like don't feed the troll.
To put it in terms they can understand, replying to a topic (not just to a particular post, but acknowledging a topic at all) is the equivalent of an upvote. It's saying that you want to see more of this content, no matter how mean your comment is. Not posting about a topic is a downvote and means you will see less of that topic in the thread.
Always "upvote" flat chested girls. Always "downvote" controversial off-topic discussion.
