As you and your wives went towards the bonfire, causing many to retreat into the alleyways or otherwise make themselves scarce. Those that didn't watched you closely, or seemed too lost in their own little worlds to care.. Considering that you and your gaggle of women that tagged alongside you made for a conspicuous scene, it was expected for there to be some level of intimidation. Especially with Cattleya and Gerty flanking your right and your left.
Conveniently, the donkey man was amongst those that remained. He looked at your wives, then at you, with an almost unreadable expression.
Despite his clothing being in tatters, there was a certain charm and that spoke of how colorful it once was. It was well kept in spite of everything it must've gone through. However, you felt like some key part of his person was missing. Something that completed his class.
"Salutations, fellow fool." He greeted you with an unexpectedly eloquent tone, "How can this humble bard be of assistance in such a troubled place?"
Of course. It should've been obvious to you that he was a bard.
"You will address Lord Doe with the respect he deserves." Gerty said with righteous authority. "He is a Savant Lord, made the owner of the Left-Bridge Commercial Center now and forever."
"Leader, Master, Savant, it matters not." The donkey man's ears twitched in annoyance, yet his face remained calm. You could see that Gerty wanted to yell at him for his insolence. "This centre of commerce eats and spits out both east and west, regardless of origin and merit."
"Then it's a good thing Master is from neither Eastian nor Westphalian." Ayane had a composed expression like always.
"Oh?" This seemed to intrigue him. "And he owns you as well, I assume?"
"You assume correctly." Your vixen confirmed with a calm nod of her head.
"A human with a kitsune wife is a rare thing." He said idly.
"I just wanted to talk with you." You steered the conversation towards what you wanted to know.
"And what do I owe the pleasure of that honor, Savant Lord?" He said.
"Out of everyone residing here you seem to stand out the most." You replied.
"I'm flattered." He gives you a dramatic bow, reminding you of Yumi's theatrics. "But I wouldn't be a good bard otherwise if that wasn't the case."
After introducing himself as Morris Murphy he vaguely glossed over his history. He used to, in his own words, 'bring peace when there was war and woo fair damsels' with his songs and tales. This was when he worked as a squire for a Knightly Order not too many years ago; a position which he apparently deserted at some point. This didn't improve Gerty's opinion of him. Most of his tales usually ended with some humor or some interesting moral. And it was there you noticed something about what you once assumed was a donkey beastman.
