You could fuse its core into iron, that usually does a lot of damage and stops the star from producing energy, eventually resulting in either a black hole or supernova. Funnily enough, we’re not really sure how the Sun will “die”. We know it will eventually enlarge into a red giant before shrinking down into a white dwarf, but we don’t know what happens after that because no star in the known universe is the right size or age to tell us what happens. Our best guess is that it eventually uses up the majority of its energy and turns into a black dwarf star instead, but none exists that we know of to prove that correct
