He did, hence why I emphasized directly, but they literally first met and were enemies. And that interaction is still pretty iffy to me, since Kubo hadn't settled on Ulquiorra's character then. He is a lot more expressive, talkative and proactive in that first encounter than in his later appearances, so it's weird how he orders to kill when he said earlier only person was meant to be killed; it would've made more sense if he just let Yammy do as he pleased. Plus, Ulquihime is not a vanilla ship, as it's literally enemies to lovers, even though it's pretty mild for the trope desu.
