I think this is my issue with her. It'd be more interesting if she was stronger, or more durable, or had regenerative powers, and was constantly getting recruited by crime outfits to work for them. Sure the powers aren't anything new, but the point would be she doesn't want these powers. She just wants to be normal, but she's completely fucked and can't turn back into a human, and she's unable to cope with that. Despite trying everything it seems like the universe is just constantly telling her the only thing she's good for is working for gangsters.

Problem with that is it simply isn't true. Any research team would cream their pants over getting to work with a sapient human-orca hybrid.
