This is what I think; FACT; reality:
Power is wielded by those with agency. Some have it some don't that's why there are "extremist" individuals. Powerful people are seen as extreme because they have extreme influence, not because their ideas are predominant.
That is why there exists both a left and right surveillance state at the same time, bipartisan and unilateral.
