To be fair that was always mostly useless since you see it at the start of enemy phase. Like oh no they're targetting a non-defending Ralsei, is that supposed to scare me into dodging better?
Also you're more likely to take multiple hits per turn in later chapters, 1 ally's gonna eat all the hits and die.
