The fact that you think he needs a backstory dump to justify his shitty personality and that that will truly show how not-awful he is and why he deserves" to be happy should tell you that he is meant to be some bully who shouldn't be taken seriously aside of the jokes and fourth ball breaks. The others don't need that, they simply live their reality as it is and we can all understand that, why is Jax the only one who is assumed to have more meaningful intentions and fate than, say, Kinger?
How will you react if it's shown that what he might or might not be aware of is insignificant in the grand scheme of the show and it's "just another point of view on how to cope with the circus", which is the whole plot of the show as far as we know?
