Personally I think you are holding Europeans to a silly standard. You really think nobody except Europeans have attacked/colonized people which haven't attacked them before?
I'm half Chinese, China was plenty imperialistic. Nobody bats an eye to Chinese people wanting to preserve their Chinese nation.
