Yeah my theory is that occasionally when artists repost art instead of reuploading the original file they for whatever reason download it off their profile (which doesn't by default display it in the original res occasionally) so they reupload a downscaled version. What drives me insane is when they post an alt version only to one site but it's also downscaled for some reason or they post lower res versions right next to higher res versions in the same post, it's annoying to have to look out for but you gotta do what you gotta do.
