it's a great film. his transition from naïve kid to ultra-traumatized survivor is tremendous. the church scene in particular is insanely good filmmaking, especially the sound design. also elite sound design when the germans first invade and the gunfire noises are barely audible cuz he's temporarily deaf from explosives. you know it's gonna be a great movie when animals ARE harmed for the art
