I agree with this on a broad scale, always funny to see the h-dev cycle of hyper productive -> Patreon explodes -> illness -> delay -> engine remake -> hard drive failure, but MGD dev gives his game out for free and it only costs 1$ to see progress updates so he gets a pass from me.
Personally try to buy games I'm interested in once they release to support actually finishing games.
