i think we're just going to repeat mistakes. if it was easy to avoid then your dad wouldn't have done it. he was a good person too, at least partially, and probably didnt want to hurt you. maybe this time around you can be the cool stepmom to a kid that's scared for the future and needs a good friend to just hang out with and forget things for a moment. you understand how it is so you might be able to help better than most people.
