They got taken over. Lemmings is owned by Sony as a result of them owning Psygnosis and the studio is dead, turned into studio Liverpool. Rockstar is owned by Take Two (American) and GTA Online's success limited their ability to work on two projects at once. GTA VI has actually been in serious development for 6.5 years already. Creative Assembly has Sega as a parent company and was working on Hyenas before it was cancelled which shows it's infected with diversity hiring. Codemasters is owned by EA (American) which is where developers go to die. Rocksteady is owned by Warner Bros (American) and the founders left the company when Suicide Squad was doomed to failure to form Hundred Stars Games. It was infected by diversity hiring. Tomb Raider is owned by Amazon (American) just like James Bond and is therefore ruined forever.
The theme here - Britain constantly sells out to foreign entities and doesn't have safe guards in place to keep British companies British. On top of this we're as bad as the Americans for doing diversity hiring which kills smallish studios. I do not buy any American games out of principle.
