Not a bot you fuckhead, but this one isn't as immediately obvious as the others and I'm feeling generous so I'll tell you anyway.

It's a difference in focus in terms of art, to put it kindly.

Left image is Diablo II and presents a clear enough image in grayscale that anyone could play the game that way with little issue. Notice that the stone pavers for the roads and the angular definition on the rocks and boulders maintain detail even in black and white.

Right image is Diablo III and features little contrast in the overall image, as can be determined by the very high uniformity of brightness in this grayscale image. Instead, Diablo III relies to an extreme degree on its color presentation to differentiate details, while Diablo II's art direction lends it the ability to have differentiation in both color and brightness.

Obviously, there may be times when the presentation on the right may be more correct - i.e. depicting an image of heaven, a brightly lit doctor's office, a lab, etc. - but quite often these issues are very persistent throughout an entire games' playthrough, hence these kinds of threads and images.

I also feel like developers had a much better sense in color decades ago.
