Chaos Emperor Dragon is the reason Yugioh finally bit the bullet on completely banning cards from competitive play instead of just restricting them to 1, and it was used as the base for a card made 15 years later celebrating the game's milestone of reaching 10,000 unique cards.
Bombazar Dragon of Destiny singlehandedly killed Duel Masters in the west, and is quite literally referred to in lore as the king of the game, and gets several cards modeled after and related to him to this day, including a literal child he sired with another banned card.

The thing about tier 0 metagames in TCGs is that they leave lasting impressions on the players. Even if the game itself was dogshit to play, they remember and even become somewhat endeared to the cards that did it. It creates a mythos of sorts
