Yeah, the difference is just that all the tech isnt just gadgets but actually employed IRL.
In Japan, you still use fax machines and your ATM closes when the bank does.
In China, you ride robo taxi and get food deliveries via drones.

I was just there a few weeks ago. Drove around Wuhan with these robo taxis and ordered McD delivered to my train-seat whilst riding HSR at 350km/h.
