Injustice is just a Batman story. If it wasn't Superman would have killed the Joker and that would've been that. Cue in a long arc of grief and coming to terms with the fact that he must protect others from the same harm that befell him and striving to do better. If we want classic campiness he could even put himself on trial for the Joker's murder and then be vindicated to bring closure. But instead it's Batman story where everyone who murders becomes a mass a murderer because of the whole slippery slope bullshit. Red Son did tyranical Superman far better in terms of motivation and setup than Injustice because Superman had a different upbringing and was already in political space where strong men were idealised to lead the masses. Not only does he conform to that mold, but he does so out of the classical Superman ideal to help the masses. He becomes a tyrant not out of murdering someone and becoming psycho but because his ideals and the culture he lived in naturally pushed him to that point. He even becomes more sinister by not just killing everyone like in Injustice but trying to "reform" people to via brainwashing.
