A 5-30km long fiber optic spool is attached to the drone which then uncoils as it flies. When the drone is parked it uses virtually no power to transmit the video feed (whereas a wireless drone must constantly use energy to transmit the video feed) making it perfect for roadside ambushes.
The downside is that they must use smaller RPG warheads due to the added weight.
