To be fair, you kinda don't need to know much about the 1.x story for the 2.0 story. The same things still apply, but rinascita has their own localized and simplified versions of the problems (most important stuff is understanding tacet discords, echoes, sentinels and threnodians, plus a vague idea of what's the lament). In particular 1.3 story is probably the least important out of the 1.x lore, it just to know that there is an international group of scientists studying the lament under rover.
