Final thoughts on Hatsumira. I finished Yukikaze's route and couldn't be bothered to read other routes for over the year. And frankly, they were not worth it. It shouldn't have been a multi-route VN from the start. Not only Yukikaze is clearly a central heroine with the most effort put in, she's just plain better than the competition: great personality, sexy appearance and she's actually proactive unlike the other 3 tards. Her route was cool, solid 7/10. Other routes having like at least 30-40% shared content sucked though.
Overall, it reads like whoever was responsible for world-building and the main lead writer are constantly trying to tug the story and the world to each other. One scene can be a silly fantasy nonsense (fun parts) while the next is Japanese WW2 reminiscence, thinly painted with bright locations and characters. The VN can't decide what it is as a result. Yeah yeah, war is the same in all worlds and that's the theme, but come the fuck on, the main plot point is "nukes bad", it doesn't get any more blatant then that. I wanted more scenes where MC tries to replicate technology from his world and aerial battles, not mopping over sad music how billions of japs were crushed by the American boot. But apparently we can't have a generic isekai with unconventional protagonist, no we have to be different and go full WW2 autism.
Translation was something else too. I don't know why TLer did what he did, whether he hated the game and wanted to shitpost or he wanted to showcase his (very impressive) knowledge of British slang, jargon and dialects. The end result is that I had to straight up ignore the incomprehensible text and listen to the Japanese VA to understand what the hell is going on. Now, would a tamer translation save the VN? No way in hell, it wouldn't really matter, but that kind of prose certainly didn't help it become popular among the EOPs.
Final score, 6.5/10 -- Non-Yukikaze routes dragged it down.
