Modern rabbinic "judaism" is a new religion that really began forming with the pharisees only slightly before Jesus' time and can be considered to have officially started in the 2nd century after the destruction of the temple. Christianity is a fulfilment of the original Judaism. The people who exist today who call themselves "jews" are not following the original religion in the old testament otherwise they would have accepted Jesus as the messiah.

"For if you believed Moses, you would believe Me; for he wrote about Me. But if you do not believe his writings, how will you believe My words" John 5:46

Here Jesus shows that the Jewish leaders at the time were not actually followers of the original religion of Moses, but by that time already they had significantly departed into their own manmade ethno-religion.

"You hypocrites! Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you: 'These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. They worship me in vain; their teachings are merely human rules.'" Matthew 15:7-9

These "human rules" that Jesus is referencing here are what will be later written down as the talmud.
