If you're a casual gamer who plays like 1 game a month or two.
A good pc that would run stuff at 60/high/1080p will run you like a 1000 bucks, which is double the price of a console. If you want to do 2k it will run you 2000 dollars give or take.
That is an unrealistic amount to ask from a guy who plays CoD a few times a year and that's it.
You also need a desk for it and the monitor, meanwhile you can just hook up your console to a tv.
Mind you, if you're anything above a casual then you should get a pc, as it is a valuable tool on top of being a gaming machine, and it offers a wider selection of games etc.
But most normalfags aren't that, so obviously the consoles will continue to thrive. Especially handhelds, since now most people can game in the subway on the way to work.
