They are friends, and I owe it to them to learn what ways they're fucked up to make sure I can handle it, or help set boundaries and such if I can't. If I can't do that, I'm a shitty friend and they don't need me in their life
Everyone's fucked up somehow, the difference is whether it gets stigmatized, researched, or even attempted to be understood. I will agree with a lot of people that it can be exhausting to handle someone with BPD, but it's a bit easier when you understand it a bit more and are more empathetic towards it
