God this giant stupid chain is such a microcosm of the problems with Dark Soul II. It doesn't serve a purpose. It isn't mentioned anywhere. It has zero context. Someone just said "Giant chain would look cool eh?" and here we are. So much of the game is like this when it isn't lazily reusing pieces of itself like the Dragon Shrine stone relief just being scaled up times 100 and shoved into Elana's boss room. They really had no plan with this game, and the DLC had no plan either.
