You aren't letting your golems run free for a few hours a day? No freetime? No wonder they're acting out.
You gotta them some time to run around and do stuff on their own. I like to give them a job as a retainer so they always have a reason to return.
My malezen one keeps getting stuck in caves, though, and I have to keep spelunking to find him curled up in the fetal position cause he got lost.
