Yes, the combat is totally different.
The original had more of a true action combat system, a similar amount of skills (they eventually added 4 more slots but I quit before then), but your basic attacks had variants based on directional inputs, it also had aerial attacks. Some of the classes in the original were total irredeemable garbage like smasher and lancer though.
SR has much less weight to it but a faster pace and you're forced into targeting enemies, your camera is detached from the direction you're attacking, which makes it feel less actiony, you can't aim your attacks unless they have a placement component, it feels closer to other more traditional MMOs fused into the combat/targeting system games like Wuthering Waves and Genshin use.
The biggest difference is not in the class combat but dungeons, it now has actual holy trinity and the dungeons have mechanics to them instead of just being "hit boss, kill adds, jump over purple aoe that spawns from the boss".

And unrelated but the graphics were noticeably downgraded which sucks because the original was really beautiful.
Another difference is that despite the map being more open, it doesn't feel as interesting, the old maps were smaller but more dense with enemies, quests and views, open world enemies in this one aren't really relevant beyond certain quests and checking them off a list, plus with the auto combat existing, the open world experience is severely lacking compared to og.
