It's gambling Anon. No different from going to a casino with friends or family. The gambling is the fun part. If there is no risk of loss then any 'victory' is hollow. At least with Gacha, pity systems mean you'll EVENTUALLY get something for anything you put in. There is a maximum cap of investment to obtain all rewards/weapons/characters etc. for even the biggest 'whales'. With stuff like Vegas or Sports Betting you could drop 10s of thousands and literally have nothing to show for it.
