There were independent polls done and pretty much everyone was in favor of independence. Even Tim Pool(the youtuber) was in Crimea at the time and he talked to the local people and they were in favor of the resolution. CNN even did a report from Crimea early in the SMO, and they couldn't find anyone who wasn't pro-Russia.
