It's revolution time here in music city! Let's see what these radical kids are up to:
>In a city that averages about 300,000 tourists a week, the protest takes place not on Broadway, where everyone flocks on a Saturday afternoon, but in Germantown, 10 blocks away by the capital building, where nobody but the local liberals will hear the gay little chants and drumbeats
>Police presence is minimal, everyone understands that this group has no teeth, no tendency for violence. In a state where 51% of adults are gun owners, you'll only find dollar store pepper spray and sharpies in the pockets of these brave soldiers.
>For a rally that is a reaction to the ICE raids targeted at illegal aliens, most of which are Hispanic, there is an overwhelming number of white people here. My guess is that all the illegals are working.
>The age range goes from plucky little gen z kids with hair dye and shitty tattoos, to aged boomers with terrible signs and COVID masks. The crowd certainly on the older side, a lot of greying millennials who grew up idolizing hippies and occupy bums. For a lot of these people, 2020 never really ended. They chant about tyrannical governments while they wear their coof masks. Nothing has changed for them.
As I walked through the crowd, I couldn't help but cackle. They could be in front of a bunch of tourists, wrecking Broadway and distrusting the flow of business for the city. Instead they huddle around each other and shout silly rhymes together. They don't want change, they want to feel good about themselves. They don't want to confront the average American, they want to see the people they upvote on their subreddit. As they lie in bed tonight, feeling smug about smashing the fash, I'll be happy to know that the ICE raids will continue, the illegals will be deported, and they did nothing but waste a Saturday afternoon.
