Something I think I picked up on watching G-Reco is that there's a further development of a topic broached in Turn-A where war seems to be treated like this definite thing you engage in but are simultaneously insulated from the effects of (treating it like a game). You usually see this in the leadership of the Capital Army and the Amerians and then the GIT unit.
There's kind of a blink and you miss it line by Bellri or someone else near the start when they're showing off the operations of the Capital Guard that goes something like 'just going into space is a matter of survival'. I'm probably mangling it but something you really get from Tomino shows is the weight and mechanics of movement/human clumsiness and that intersecting with the rigid objects and machines we surround ourselves with. People like to joke about characters being very clumsy in Tomino shows and maybe he just enjoys storyboarding people tripping but I think it works subtly to keep us grounding in the realm of physics. Where I'm going with this is that the simple operation of the Capital Guard and the operations of the Nuts and Crowns is absolutely critical to life on Earth, it's something taken for granted by many people in the show (and outright criticized by the Amerians. The operation requires a strict time table and usage of heavy tools and machinery by the Capital Guard, they take real pride in their work (note the silly little celebratory hype up the Capital Guard does that later gets brought back FIGHT ON FIGHT ON FIGHT ON)
But then you contrast that to the Capital Army which are getting off on playing soldier boy, getting to use new tools and gadgets as the tech gets iterated and improved upon (disclaimer I would love to use a Wuxia too, I wish I could get a kit of it). What they're doing is actively clashing with how the Space Elevator is meant to be operated and maintained, they take its existence for granted despite their actions imperiling it.
