Thank you. I've been thinking for some time about earth and Malkuth. Keter and Da'at are separated by shin. Da'at and Tiferet are separated by aleph. Tiferet and Yesod are separated by mem. So, naturally, what does separate Yesod from Malkuth?
Lacking mystical insight (working on that), I think it cannot be another mother, because that would imply two more sephirot. There would no problem if we took the Gra configuration, but somehow that feels wrong. I believe the oldest kabbalists were quite free with their tree of life configurations, so I was about to read the Sefer Yetzirah line by line, trying to make sense of the cardinal points and obscure relations, in order to check what is the underlying structure, if any.
Your insight is very interesting. I believe that from Yesod to Malkuth the difference seems to be inmanence: both sephirot are made of the same stuff, but Malkuth is closed, almost waterproof to the element above. Malkuth is dominated by inertia, causality, minimal action and maximum entropy. As keter is the upper limit, Malkuth is the lower limit, a terminal surface for Yesod. So I get the idea of the *closed* Mem.
What is the meaning of tav, grace, being the gate from Malkuth to Yesod?
Anyway, picrel is a silly tangent I took some time ago, after the intuition that immanence was the essence of Malkuth, so what if there are two more sephirot for earth = immanence. One is chudfirah (inertia, nothing ever happens), and the other is chadfirah (the divine rain, counsciosness seeping in, the quantum background). It almost makes sense, the earth line is not part of the tree, just like the Divine Light, and Malkuth is the root underneath. Silly exercise, no offense meant.
