I know what you're paranoid of and you can't just shut the door. interdependent origination means that you will never be separate from influences and conditioning on your mind. hearing something will always cause subtle influences in your brain and it's impossible to turn off. your problem is that you're being a passive listener, not an active listener, and letting what you hear drive you. an active listener directly interprets what they are told in the way they want to integrate, and drives themselves. passive listeners just follow other peoples' trains of thoughts like scripted robots.

get into meditation. take control of what thoughts are going through your head and start pruning crap you don't want. write your thoughts in a journal and read them and reflect on them to operate on your own thoughtforms and nerves. if you don't practice mental hygiene you'll end up a corrupted mess of other peoples' complexes
