originally the Portuguese worldview was that Brazil was an extension of Africa and Portugal. that was when it was concentrated to the coasts (still is). that is why they never switched to Spanish but kept Portuguese, because Spanish was not spoken in Africa. it's probably always evolving with more interaction with Spanish latinos and even Anglos but that is why they were originally a different country and is also why Cape Verde exists. Argentina was just trapped below it and they could dump whatever they wanted there, gypsy country.
