phrolova and camellya's stories are functionally the same, with one key difference: the presence of a romantic interest with rover

phrolova was not a wife to be gathered, so even though she may have wanted to patch things up with rover, rover is too concerned with his mission, saving solaris-3, overcoming the fractsidus, getting the stupid fuckin' gem
he never drops his hostility towards lova the entire quest, even though she saves him multiple times, even though it's clear she doesn't want to fight him

phrolova is also too obsessed with her goal to see reason. she and rover are the same in that way, and that is why she is correct when she calls rover a hypocrite. rover is so obsessed with being solaris-3's god-savior that he's willing to give up everything. he has likely wiped his mind multiple times in pursuit of letting go of what's important to him (friends, lovers) to chase ending the lament for good.

camellya was written to be a wife, and so she was obedient to rover's wishes, even though it destroyed her when rover disappeared from her life, same as phrolova. unlike phrolova, she would wait for him forever. unlike phrolova, rover recognizes that they loved each other at one point, and so is willing to be amiable to her in the present.
