I know that Kubo's editor said that Orihime was the heroine or something akin to that, but how am I supposed to take that seriously when Rukia not only got much more focus, but she also got serious favoritism from Kubo himself? In the afterword for the final volume message, he only singles out Ichigo and Rukia, shouldn't be have thanked Ichigo and Orihime if he really saw her as the main girl? Even among fans Rukia is seen as the main female character of Bleach.

Said who? There's never been an official confirmation. Kubo clearly only wanted Ichigo, Rukia, Kazui, and Ichika in the drawing.
