It's amazing and infuriating - since antiquity in Greece every discussion of Democracy has involved the discussion of the importance of denying and stringently limiting moneyed/landed/rich/influential people direct access to decisions in (and thus inherently against) the Democracy.

And then come the 80s and come thatcher and reagan and suddently the narrative was shifted in tandem with media ghouls.
This is why public broadcasters are/were so important.
How to put the genie back in the box?
Well I am sure the oligarchs and industry-gnats and lobbyist-parasites won't be giving their power up without some kind of extra-institutional pushback.
