Your argument also falls apart by the simple question of how far you want to take it back. The Ottoman empire occupied a lot of European and African countries, should Turkey now be paying reparations to all those countries? What about the Mongol empires who occupied all of Asian and deep into Europe and killed a few percent of the entire world population?
