"How dare you all look down on me!" Yumi exclaimed. She then shifted slightly in the air. "Am... am I missing out?" You barely heard her mumble out that last part.
"Yes." Mel replied.
"Master is great." Herta nodded, though you wouldn't be surprised if she just blurted that out randomly.
"He smells better than you can ever imagine." Bertha added.
"I..." Yumi suddenly shook her head. "No, wait! I almost forgot the universe is purposefully sabotaging me! Yeah. Yeah! HAHAHA! Haha... ha..."
As strange and amusing as these situations were, they ended just as quickly as they began. Like with any anime fluff, the comfortable status-quo imposed itself onto you all again.
While you went back to working on turning the giant pearl into a crystal orb, you found that Yumi was hanging around you more often. And, on an occasion that Herta needed to get some rest, the ghost girl took the opportunity to speak with you.
"Ah, fair seeker of shadows, what whispers of fate bring you to speak with Yumi on this fateful eve?" She greeted you.
"I should be the one asking you that." You replied, giving her the attention she clearly craved.
"It's abundantly evident that your soul yearns for the incandescent glow of my presence!" She said. "To linger alone in the abyss of time, trapped within the confines of one's solitary thoughts..." She suddenly had a very empty and faraway look in her eyes, but quickly shook it off. "But enough of this meandering reverie. Tell me, o Savant Lord, would it ail you to seek company?"
"O, wondrous Yumi," You replied again, putting on some airs and matching her speech, "I find myself entwined in the grand tapestry of destiny's weaving, with no place to settle my working hands this week."
"In that case," She looked away and played with her hair, "How about next week?"
"Oh? Are you asking me-"
"W-what!" She tried, and failed, at appearing aloof "Don't get this wrong! I'm not asking you out on a d-date or anything! I was just-"
"I was about to say— before you interrupted me— if you're asking to practice with that new ghost crystal wand." You smiled innocently. "I never mentioned a date."
Yumi's reaction was priceless, her face changing into varying shades of blue and her mouth spewing out stuttered inflections.
"The..." Yumi tried to gain her cool again, once again to mixed success "The wand. Yeah. Uh, that's what I was talking about." She cleared her voice. "So, next week we can practice."
"Is that a request?"
"Yes?"
You feel that shit-eating grin on your face again.
>And you told her you'd think about it, teasing her some more.
>And you said that it was a date. Getting a stuttering ghost as a response. (Uses up John Doe's action next week to practice ghostly magic with Yumi)
