That's what makes it so good though! For Toriel and Sans, they're just too lonely people who have found love with each other and are just spending a nice slightly wild evening together. Which is something both of them really needed.

From Kris' perspective, they just went through an emotionally taxing nightmare where they found about that they and their friends are prophesied to either die or sacrifice tons of innocent lives to save the world. And what do they get for it? Turns out Mom is fucking the weird skeleton man. Great.

It's fucking awesome, and I love it.
