If the theory is proven and the entire mechanism is mapped out to brain states, then it's possible that in the future some form of medication might be available to interfere with it. A whitepill, if you will.
Still, it's very hard to not just fall into the abyss of nihilism when you ponder such things. I feel like I hit rock bottom and I'm actually finished mental health wise, but others might take it better and do something with it.
