Dice Wars Heroes of Polyhedra is frequently found for $10-$15.
Players roll some chunky as hell dice that generate units. Four basic units (d6), two elite units (d8), and one hero unit (d12).
Basic units have 1 health, elites 2, and heroes 3.
In a two player game each player rolls two armies. All hero units must be different, so reroll matching dice there.
It takes place on a variable hex map and players win by holding points of interest for enough rounds, destroying an opposing army's hero, or destroying every unit in an opposing army except the hero.
It plays fast and is really fun basic tactics/skirmish game.
