Hyper sonic missiles only have a very short range of hypersonic flight because of friction from the atmosphere. That's why most hypersonic missle are launched into space and come back down. It easier to giant and maintain speed in space without friction but even then the inter the atmosphere we'll below hypersonic. They only accelerate for a brief moment before they hit there "target".

The benifit of scramjet powered missiles is that they can be aspirated and don't need to carry as much fuel over shorter distances.
