cobs are pretty good at absorbing moisture, so you probably won't see too much a difference, especially since most times you get a filter with a cob, they're just a dinky little thin paper roll
and if you're using captain black, you're especially gonna have a lot of moisture, its a super wet smoking blend

i'd say to actually use it without the filter the first time or two, see how wet it smokes, then finally try it with the filter
