So I'm 30 chapters into Empire of Silence, and an issue I'm having is that the MC really doesn't do much of note. Like I get it, he goes from being a prince type whose life is controlled by the whims of his father, to being homeless and helpless.

And I get the vision, this section of the story is supposed to highlight his lack of power and agency to contrast with his eventual rise. But it still doesn't make up for how it feels that in 30 chapters he has only made a single impacful decision and everything else has either happened to him or been inflicted on him.

I just can't do it. I'm only 6 chapters in and it's boring me to tears and everything I've heard it doesn't get better.
