Regardless of her popularity and reputation in and out universe, Mikoto IS kinda plain looking, visually, even when compared to other girls from her series. I'm not OP, but I'm pretty sure the whole premise of this thread is that "plain" designs can still be appealing, eye-catching and even iconic. I personally like the term "plainkino".
