I find it funny that everyone including haters are so on top of this, like I hate many manga, yet I never enter one of those threads because I don't see the point, I focus on things I like.
People are so emotionally invested about something they are are even afraid to say they read, yet they know a lot about the plot and characters to come and say their opinion in every discussion about the manga.
It's peak entertainment. It's so peak that people come over from all fandoms to talk, laugh, seethe and cry about the manga.
What kind of manga is one that no one knows it exists, that no one reacts emotionally? A manga that is going to be forgotten.
If even people who don't even read it are so emotionally invested in it, yeah, the author knows what he's doing.
