If you want the philosophical argument, it's the same reason why Christianity made suicide a sin after making Heaven accessible to all. Robin's opposition is because it gives people every reason to give up. There was some movie that touched on the idea that scientists proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that the afterlife was real and it lead to skyrocketing suicide rates across the globe. I think there's no right answer to abandoning your real life and it falls squarely to personal philosophy, I think it's a pussy move.
