Reading is a mental pursuit, depending on what you are reading its not in the same classification as the others. TV, legos, social media, etc. ARE loser activities if you dedicate 90% of your free time to them. Key here is time. If done in moderation its all fine.
Video games have the biggest stigma because its the easiest loser activity to obsess over, outside of social media which 99% of the population uses so it gets a pass in public eye.
Also inherently a "gamer" is likely to be a loser because its a title which implies too much time is being focused on games right off the jump. It's like if you heard someone say they were a lego-er, obviously you wouldn't take them serious. Nobody is going to say someone is a loser for saying "Yeah I play some games here and there"
